“They Can’t See Your Truth” ☯️ Wood Burned Wall Plaque
“They Can’t See Your Truth” was birthed from a sketch when I having a really hard day. I sometimes deal with feelings of being rejected, left out and misunderstood. Drawing and painting these things actually help me process the situations (or at least turn the negativity into something pretty). I decided to do those feelings justice by making it into an official piece. I wood burned it on a medium/large-ish slice of birch wood. I added both iridescent and regular acrylic paint, as well as intentionally set glitter pieces and black wood stain. I think it turned out great, playing on themes of being connected to nature, life and death, and the balance of darkness and light. I sealed the piece with a satin finish, and put hardware on the back for easy hanging. This slice of wood is a bit flat along the bottom, so it actually can stand up on its own on a desk or shelf. Item is fragile, please handle with care.
Remember, they may not be able to fully SEE you, and that’s okay. That is not your problem. You’re going to be okay and I love you.
